An Introduction to Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

This one day workshop delivered by Dr. Kevin Fehin aims to provide an introduction to the ideas and concepts involved in psychodynamic psychotherapy, including transference and countertransference. It will explore attitudes, values and beliefs about human nature from a psychodynamic perspective and provide an understanding of psychopathology and presenting symptoms from this viewpoint.

Some of the applications of psychodynamic thinking both within and outside the clinical setting are introduced. There will also be opportunities for thinking about the place of psychodynamic ideas in working with mental health.

Suitable for: Qualified mental health professionals and those nearing the end of their training or those with an interest in psychotherapy.

Members of The Addiction Counsellors of Ireland can earn CPD points for participating in this workshop.

“Kevin was a great facilitator and answered questions particularly well. I liked the interactive style of the training and learned a lot from other people’s questions/reflections. I found the training really thought provoking. I always think that’s a good sign of a training day! I also really liked that we were given the option to access further reading on topics discussed.”

“This was a really interesting course which provided a succinct account of psychodynamic psychotherapy – not easy to do within a short course.   I liked hearing about counselling examples which connected theory to practice.”
